Fundraiser groups link with a business and have one week to sell as many orders for Southland Spirit of a Nation calendars as possible with profit going to their organisation. At the end of the week of sales there is an awards night with a trophy and $500 for the team judged best overall , and certificates for a range of awards including Best Sales Team, Best Customer Service, Best Sales Pitch.

 

 

 

Objective

 

To provide a fundraiser that is effective for volunteer community groups, that raises money by selling a desirable product with good mark-up over a shortened sales period with the assistance of business and as part of a fun team challenge.

 

 

 

How Much Can We Make?

 

There is a 100% mark up in the calendar, you can make $10 per large calendar and $7.50 plus on the smaller calendar. Plus these calendars can be personalised for businesses who are known to buy 50 or 100 for clients. Last year leading teams sold between 500 – 700 in ONE HOUR, you have a week.

 

 

 

Deadlines

 

·        Sales start 12:01am on Thurs 31 October and run to 4pm on the Awards night on Wed 6 Nov

 

·        Questionnaire for awards complete and sent to organisers by 4pm Tues 5 Nov.

 

·        Order sent to organisers by 4pm 6 Nov

 

·        Cheque or payment for orders to organisers by 6:30pm on Wed 6 Nov.

 

·        Awards from 7:30pm, Wed 6 Nov.

 

·        Calendars printed to order by 20 Nov (personalised calendars printed two weeks after details are sent to printer).

 

 

 

Process

 

·        Sign your community group or charity up for the awards by contacting Gerry Forde:

·        Appoint a co-ordinator of your team, and the organising committee will communicate with them including sending the calendar information the day before sales start.

 

·        Find a business or businesses to support your group or go it on your own.

 

·        On 30 October, the day before the Sales Challenge starts you will be sent an email containing all the information about the calendars (price, recommended retail) and a PDF of the calendar plus an order form template.

 

·        You will also receive a questionnaire and your answers will decide the certificate awards for the night, e.g. Best Sales Team, Best Publicity Stunt etc.

 

·        Sales start 12:01am on Thurs 31 October and run to 4pm on the Awards night on Wed 6 Nov.

 

·        The questionnaire is to be faxed or emailed to the organisers by 4pm Tues 5 Nov.

 

·        Total sales, cost of sales and overall profit faxed or emailed to organisers by 4pm Wed 6 Nov.

 

·        Payment for the calendar orders must be made to the committee at the Awards by 6:30pm on Wed 6 Nov.

 

·        Awards ceremony is held at 7:30pm, Wed 6 Nov

 

·        All calendar orders will be sent to Sycamore Print and calendars printed by Wed 20 Nov for you to collect.

 

 

 

Pre-Sales Activity

 

·        Inform members of your group about the competition and have them bring in as many supporters to help sell.

 

·        Meet with your business supporter and discuss sales techniques and tactics

 

·        Every seller can make a list of contacts to sell to and it is OK to contact these people prior to the competition to alert them you will be selling to them – no orders to be taken however until the start of the competition.

 

·        The Southland calendars can be personalised, so businesses can put their name, logo and contact details on the calendar and gift to clients – so select businesses in your area as key targets as some may buy 50 - 100 personalised calendars.

 

 

 

Sales Pitch to Potential Buyer

 

“By purchasing you are receiving a stunning calendar with sparkling Southland images and key local events. This calendar is great for the home, for the office and to give to friends and rellies away from the region who would love a taste of Southland, especially for Christmas. Your purchase helps Spirit of a Nation promote Southland and supports your volunteer group to keep providing their service to the community. Outline your sales plan including: the size of your team, what meetings you held with the team and with a business sponsor, how you targeted your customers, what means you used to contact customers and make sales, how you adjusted your strategy if necessary, any special tactics

 

 

 

Best Team Work

 

How many in your team, effect of holding a team meeting, how you used the different strengths of members to effect sales, how did you support each other, any team approach to sales.

 

 

 

Best Publicity Stunt

 

What tactic did you use to get attention and how did it help achieve sales
